The ritual

Water, leaf,
time.

A short, honest method for brewing our Thái Nguyên green tea. Adjust to taste — tea is a conversation, not a formula.

01

Warm the vessel

Rinse your teapot or gaiwan with hot water and pour it out. Cold ceramic dulls the first steep.

02

Measure the leaf

3 grams of tea to 100ml of water. A heaping teaspoon is a fair starting point.

03

Heat the water

75–80°C. Just off the boil, then rested for a minute. Boiling water scalds green tea and turns it bitter.

04

First steep

45 seconds. Pour the tea off completely — don't let leaves sit in water between steeps.

05

Second & third

Add 15–20 seconds each time. Good Thái Nguyên gives you three honest cups; a fourth if you're patient.

06

Listen

Smell the empty cup. Notice how the tea changes across steeps. That's the whole ritual.
